VOCATIONAL COURSESThe International Horsemans Institute provides you with the most practical, hands-on horsemanship centred learning available anywhere in the world. Our students develop themselves mentally, emotionally and physically into valued and valuable members of the horse industry. The International Horseman s Institute welcomes students from all over the world. The only entry pre-requisite is a commitment to be the best student, horseman and human you can be. You will be trained in all aspects of horsemanship, including horse psychology, behaviour, training, reproduction, nutrition, physiology, health and safety from birth to starting under saddle and all aspects of competition/leisure/working, through to old age. You will learn to communicate with horses, how to have them want to be with you, how to get them to peak performance naturally. Become expert at colt starting, handling difficult horses, achieving natural fluidity of riding and movement . . . become someone with a certain future in any aspect of the global equestrian industry. In the equestrian industry today, it’s not enough to be ‘just’ an exceptional horseperson. Whether working for yourself or for someone else you will need to know tax and accounting basics, computer and communication skills as well as marketing principles and we will ensure that you are schooled in every aspect of practical business application so you are an asset to whichever arm of the horse industry you choose to call your own. The 2 year, full-time, Diploma in Horsemanship will equip you with the skills and savvy to walk into your horse related career with a passion to excel. You will have both the theoretical knowledge and the practical skills to make you an asset in any equine pursuit or establishment. The key to your development of this knowledge and experience is the fact that the courses at IHI have one driving principle – horsemanship is developed with a horse, not at a desk. Horsemanship is built in 4 areas: You will be building your horsemanship skills at an accelerated pace with around 30 hours of practical tuition per week, and plenty of free time for your own practice. We guarantee that 80% of your time will be spent with horses. At IHI you can bring your own horse so you can develop your skills together, or you are welcome to learn with one of the faculty horses.
