VOCATIONAL HORSEMANSHIP CERTIFICATE I

Pre-Requisites - None

The Vocational Horsemanship Certificate I provides participants with both horsemanship and business skills. These skills are considered essential to any entry level position within industry. The course is divided into a number of streams:

  • Horsemanship On Ground
  • Horsemanship Ridden
  • Business
  • Computing
  • Horse Care

The Certificate I course provides participants with the Horsemanship Certificate I - Basic Skills & Safety which will allow the student to handle a horse safely both on the ground and under saddle.

The Certificate I course provides participants with the introduction to the Business, Computing and Horse Care streams which are studied in conjunction with the Horsemanship Stream. All of these streams will provide the foundation for more advanced studies.

Safety & Basic Skills on Ground Safety & Basic Skills Ridden
  • Stay out of your space,
  • Walk with you,
  • Move backwards and forwards,
  • Sshow little opposition to your requests,
  • Follow your directions,
  • Perform minor challenges on 12’ lead rope (eg. jump a small log)
  • Stand still while you halter him
  • Safe saddling
  • Safe preparation on the ground
  • Safe mounting, dismounting
  • One rein
  • Rein positions and habits, for control
  • Leg positions and use
  • Canter and stop with safety
